Our Passion

My name is Kelly.  I started Autism Strong because my kids are autistic and I was having a HARD time finding exactly what I was looking for.  Many autism or special needs product sites I checked out were so clinical that I easily got overwhelmed with the options and had no idea what to choose.

I also noticed on some sites a "special needs markup" - items that, when listed under healthcare or personal training cost less, and were inexplicably priced higher when listed under autism support or special needs.  I don't want that for you, and you will NOT find that here.  I have searched for products from all over different categories that, regardless of their original intent (like this puppy), can help with functional needs or a better sensory environment.

As a military family, we move frequently and have very little money to spare.  I specifically focus on items that can easily be moved (i.e., not drilled into your ceiling), can easily be washed (because kids and pets), and are a good value.  I hope you enjoy the selection, and I would love to hear from you!  If you think something is missing, or if you have a particular product that's worked well for you that you'd like to see here, let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen.‚Äč

A lot of the pictures of kids with various products are my own kids.  Nothing goes on this site that hasn't been tried by a real, live person - which is why some personal stories are included with product descriptions.  Some items are designed by autistics. Some manufacturers donate to autism related charities.  We support neurodiversity and self advocacy however we can.

Although the site is called Autism Strong, the products are not intended solely for autistics or their supporters.  Anyone can have sensory or functional issues, and if you don't know where to start it can be overwhelming.  The intent of this site is to provide a good cross section of items so you have somewhere to start, no matter where you are on your journey.

We are proud to donate 10% of all proceeds to Spreading The Love, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to putting an end to bullying, the stigma surrounding mental illness, and suicide.
